About us
Balsnack International Holding AS is a family company founded in 1992 and the largest (only) producer of potato chips in Estonia, with a portfolio of over 100 different products. Since 2008, we have been the only one in Estonia to produce high-quality bird food as well.
The company, whose primary vision was to offer something special and unique to the Baltic markets, has today grown into a world-nown player.
Over the last five years, the company has invested heavily in foreign trade, as a result of which exports have grown by 400% (48 countries), now accounting for half of the company’s total turnover.
We invest in product development on a daily basis in order to offer consumers new tastes both in Estonia and abroad.

OSSI with pepper and salt was chosen as the Best Snack in Estonia in 2021
After a few years of pleasant cooperation with a Japanese customer and thanks to Baruto’s great support and help, we decided to establish Balsnack Asia Company Limited at the last meeting with Japanese customers. The president of the company is Kaido Höövelson.

Creation of an export brand “Grand potato chips” for potato wafers. This was the start of the insane increase in exports, and today we produce 70% of potato wafers for foreign markets.
A project aimed at children, which mission is to raise children’s awareness through creative tasks. We want to teach the kids how to feed the birds properly ont the winter time and how to take care of them.
Started to organize excursions to Balsnack production to children and interest groups.
The magazine “Loodus”(eng “Nature”) proposed to start producing domestic bird food. We named the brand Firends Food and we are still the only and producer of poultry food in Estonia.
Balsnack bought the TEXAS brand and started producing popcorn.
New legendary products were added to the Balsnack assortment: Onion – cheese breads and Garlic breads, OSSI chips and combs

The first Balsnack brands were developed: Pirate, Vigur, Mõngel and Kartulivavhel. “Mõngel” has become synonymous with a sweet extruded corn in Estonia.
After the liquidation of Ääsmäe Agrofima in 1992, AS Balsnack was formed to produce potato chips.
The production of potato chips in Ääsmäe started in 1983, at that time in Ääsmäe Agrofirma under the company of Ivar Voites
